Absolutely! All leaders are given access to a discussion board and e-group where they can connect with other students heading NAMI On Campus clubs. We have a Facebook group where active club leaders can network and learn about activities taking place around the country. We also send out a newsletter that highlights club activities.

While it’s not required, it is highly recommended that you and all your club members become NAMI members so you can receive additional perks at the local, state and national levels. As students, you qualify for NAMI’s Open Door membership. This membership level allows you to pay only $5 each to become a full NAMI member. You can sign up for this membership through your NAMI State Organization or NAMI Affiliate.

NAMI On Campus clubs are required to reach out to the NAMI State Organizations and NAMI Affiliate before they can become official clubs. Many of our clubs partner with the NAMI State Organization and NAMI Affiliate on community-wide events and some clubs leaders intern in their offices. NAMI On Campus clubs also have access to NAMI at the national level for additional resources and guidance.

You can meet as often as you like. That can be weekly, biweekly or monthly.

Connect with your local NAMI State Organization and NAMI Affiliate. Find your local NAMI!

NAMI is made up of a national headquarters, State Organizations and Affiliates. The national office provides NAMI On Campus clubs with technical assistance and resources, and also approves new clubs. There are NAMI affiliates across the country. These organizations offer information and referral services, run education programs and support groups, host mental health awareness events and activities and advocate at the local and state levels.

NAMI State Organizations and Affiliates provide access to local support groups, programs, services and connection to helpful individuals. They are also required to provide endorsement signatures for clubs as part of the startup process.

NAMI On Campus clubs are student-led, student-run. This means clubs can adapt their activities to what their campus needs. Clubs have hosted movie nights, health fairs, mental health speakers, student and campus leader panels, 5K races, NAMIWalks with their local NAMI and more. The possibilities are endless!

Your meetings can be dedicated to discussing club activities, bringing in guest speakers, offering information or training for your members and working on projects together. How you want to raise awareness, support your peers and plan activities is entirely up to you.
