NAMI
Rochester is dedicated to providing support, education and advocacy to
individuals and families of all ethnic backgrounds who are affected by
mental illness in Monroe County and surrounding counties
Our Mission:
To provide in a non-threatening way, an opportunity to establish new
friendships, to share problems and feelings, to offer hope, and to
provide strength to others who may be going through similar experiences.
To provide a forum for families and individuals to help each other
explore effective ways of coping with the impact of mental illness. To
make available information and education about mental illness, the
service delivery system, community programs and resources, mental health
legislation and other associated issues. To improve attitudes and reduce
stigma towards mental illness and to advocate on behalf of persons with
mental illness and their families.
Membership
All meeting are free of change, and a membership in NAMI Rochester is
now $36 per year, which entitles you to the local, state, and national
newsletters and other publications, voting privileges, and discounts on
literature and merchandise. $10 of the annual fee goes to national and
$3 goes to the state. (Scholarships are available for those with limited
