Information, Support and Education
Dawn Brown believes that recovery is possible, that lives can be restored and families can be made whole again. Her experience with NAMI began when her son was hospitalized with schizophrenia and she first attended a NAMI Family Support Group over 15 years ago. Today, she credits NAMI with helping to save her family and aiding her son’s recovery.
For the past six years, Dawn has worked at NAMI in roles that engage the NAMI community, share information and provide support. Today she continues to help advance NAMI’s mission by directing the NAMI HelpLine and the NAMI National Convention. She comes to NAMI with a background in business administration and marketing.
What piece of your work at NAMI are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my work with the NAMI HelpLine. It’s at the heart of NAMI—volunteers and peers sharing support and information that helps others get a little closer to recovery and wellness.
What’s something about you that would surprise others?
I’m a huge LeBron James fan.
