Getting the Right Start

If you think you may have a mental health condition, it’s important that you know and recognize the ten common warnings.

If you see these signs in yourself, reach out to someone you trust, whether that’s a parent, friend, coach or religious leader.

It can be hard to know what to say, but start with something like, “I’m not feeling right. I think I need help. Can I talk to you about it?” They will be able to help connect you with services and supports.

Your first stop should be with your primary care provider to rule out any physical conditions that may be causing you to feel that way.

Be completely honest with them about what you’re feeling and ask for a referral to a mental health professional.

Be sure to stay connected to your support network and to connect with others to help you through this transition.
