Candidate Narrative

With many years of prior experience with non-profits I will be able to support the board in many diverse ways with little to no training/educating required. In my role as Recovery Support Systems Coordinator with the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors I will be able to inform NAMI on national partnerships that will help move the mission further as well as resources available to help NAMI leverage funding and build capacity. In my state role I increased the contract with NAMI Indiana by $500,000 to focus on local affiliate expansion and DOC education/training. I am a person with MH and SUD lived experience who also has a felony background that has served me in understanding the needs and addressing the gaps with state / federal funding.

I personally have helped advance the NAMI mission in my community by serving my local affiliate through leading support groups, donating, joining fundraising events, sharing grant opportunities, and training on signature programs. In state government I increased funding to target local affiliate expansion financially in a significant way for all local affiliates.

I work well in coordination with other leaders to accomplish goals as evidenced by showing up to meetings, committing my time, and supporting other leaders/volunteers as needed.
