NAMI Thanks Senator Pete Domenici for 35 Years of Service

Posted on October 5, 2007

During 35 years in the nation's capital, Senator Pete Domenici's leadership has benefited millions of Americans who live with serious mental illnesses. We thank him for all he has done for individuals and families who face the disabling impact of brain disorders.

He has educated Americans.

He has set priorities for scientific and clinical research. He has worked to help homeless people with mental illnesses.

He has fought for an end to discrimination by seeking to enact mental health insurance parity—legislation which is now pending in Congress.

His commitment has been constant. His voice has been one of reason. He has consistently inspired bipartisan action.

Before he retires, NAMI can think of no greater tribute than for the U.S. Congress to pass his parity bill and send it to the President to be signed into law.
