Dr. Beal currently serves as President of Beal Counseling Associates and Beal Behavioral Health. She also contracts as a mental health expert for The Steve Fund, where she serves as the program director for “Well Being In Color,” a peer mental health educational program for students of color.

In 2020, Dr. Beal developed and implemented two COVID-19 mental health helplines; the first for the Houston Independent School District, one of the largest school districts in the county, and the second for the City of Houston Health Department. In just three months, Dr. Beal’s team fielded more than 1,500 calls. Recently, she became a member of the Mayor of Houston task force for special needs and a consultant for Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee on youth mental health and domestic violence for COVID-19 victims.

Dr. Beal has enjoyed more than 28 years of professional experience as a clinician, treating the emotional needs of children and adolescents. In addition to her clinical work, she has published articles on teen pregnancy, self-esteem, violence and African American issues and presented research at more than 75 national and international conferences. She served in the role of coordinator for the Psychology Program at Prairie View A&M University for seven years.

Dr. Beal received both an Ed.D. in Guidance and Counseling/Psychology and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Texas Southern University. She pursued her post-doctoral education from the University of Texas — School of Public Health and California School of Professional Psychology — Health Care Administration Certification.
