NAMI is partnering with the National Council for Behavioral Health for Hill Day 2016—a free, two-day event that brings together hundreds of mental health and substance use providers and advocates in D.C. for sessions and workshops on federal mental health and substance use policy. After these sessions, Hill Day attendees go to Capitol Hill to advocate for mental health and addictions treatment in their communities.

Hill Day 2016 will take place June 6-7, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

PAST HILL DAY SUCCESSES INCLUDE:

  1. Passage of a demonstration program based on the Excellence in Mental Health Act, and the introduction of legislation to expand the demonstration project in 2016;
  2. $15 million appropriation in the 2014 budget for Mental Health First Aid training and a continuation of that funding for each consecutive year;
  3. Funding in the 2016 budget, including:
