March 30, 2023 – The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) today launched “You Are Not Alone: Voices of Recovery,” an insightful podcast series based on the USA Today national bestseller “You Are Not Alone: The NAMI Guide to Navigating Mental Health,” by NAMI Chief Medical Officer Ken Duckworth, M.D. The first episode was released today (March 30), with new episodes every Thursday.
“You Are Not Alone: Voices of Recovery” draws from among more than 100 interviews conducted by Dr. Duckworth for the book, showcasing real people sharing authentic stories of their mental health journeys. The podcast aims to enlighten and inspire listeners by tapping into the lived experiences of a diverse group of people with mental illness and their families, an invaluable source of expertise that is often overlooked.
“Our goal with ‘You Are Not Alone: Voices of Recovery’ is to bring to light the strength, resilience and wisdom that can be found in the stories of everyday people,” Dr. Duckworth said.
“We hope that by sharing these experiences, we can foster a sense of connection, understanding and hope for those who are facing mental health challenges and mental illness. The book has a page limit, so many of the lessons from real people can be heard in full in these conversations.”
