Suicide Prevention Series

A Webinar Series Focused on Suicide Prevention Efforts, Sharing Lived Experience and Inspiring Future Activism

In NAMI’s Ask the Expert: Suicide Prevention Webinar Series, NAMI welcomes our colleagues at AFSP and The JED Foundation, as well as contributors to NAMI’s first-ever book “You Are Not Alone: The NAMI Guide to Navigating Mental Health,” to share their work and experience in a variety of suicide prevention efforts. This multi-part series will provide an overview of current efforts in suicide prevention work, share inspiring stories from suicide loss survivors and offer creative solutions to raising awareness in our own communities.

As part of NAMI’s mission to engage in advocacy, education, support and public awareness in pursuit of better outcomes for those affected by mental illness, this series aims to provide a comprehensive look at the state of suicide prevention efforts and to inspire individuals to embark on their own journeys to raise awareness and find hope.

The series, moderated by NAMI Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ken Duckworth, will feature insights from psychologists, researchers, policymakers and creative individuals who have used their own experience to fight for change.

Series:

  1. The AFSP & The JED Foundation: Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, 4:00 – 5:30pm ET
  2. Making Meaning of Loss – Stories from Lived Experience: Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, 4:30 – 6:00pm ET
