Arlington, Va.–July 12, 2017Three new members and two incumbents were elected to the 16-member board of directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at its recent national convention in Washington, D.C. The new members fill open seats on the board.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Board members are elected annually at the convention; the full board then selects its officers for the following year.

Board members are elected for staggered three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms.

New members elected to three year terms:

  • Carlos Larrauri, R.N., B.S.N from Florida
  • Amanda Lipp from California
  • Micah Pearson, C.P.S.W. from New Mexico

Elected to second three-year terms:

  • Jim Hayes, M.D. from South Carolina
  • Adrienne Kennedy, M.A. from Texas,

The full board chose incumbent officers to continue in 2017-2018:

  • Steve Pitman, J.D. from California, President
  • Lacey Berumen Ph.D., M.N.M., C.A.C. III, from Colorado, 1st Vice President
  • Victoria “Vickey” Gonzalez from Illinois, 2nd Vice President
  • Adrienne Kennedy from Texas, Secretary
  • Bob Spada M.B.A. from Ohio, Treasurer

Eleven first-term board members and three in their second terms were not up for election this year.

  • Charma Dudley Ph.D., FPPR, Pennsylvania
  • David Stafford, M.S., South Carolina
