Finding Help and Community: A Hispanic Mom and Daughter’s Mental Health Journey
After her daughter was hospitalized due to mental health, Deniece Chi went looking for answers and found NAMI. Walking into her first family support group, she felt welcomed and understood. With the support of NAMI programs, Deniece was able to better communicate with her daughter and their relationship grew stronger through her daughter’s recovery. Deniece is now a NAMI bilingual program coordinator for her entire state, working closely with the Hispanic community. For Deniece and her daughter, NAMI means family, support and community.
