Justice System Diversion: Anita Fischer: All American Advocate
Anita’s son, Pharoh, was an all-American young man. He excelled at his studies and on the field and then joined the Army to serve his country. Serious mental illness put Pharoh's plan into a spiral that left him homeless, then imprisoned, and his family struggling to find a path to recovery. This story shows how the overlap of the justice system and mental health is not black and white — it’s black and brown. As Anita battles for her son, she becomes an advocate for many others as well.
