Arlington, VA — The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) today announced the election of its new Board of Directors. Joyce Campbell, J.D., was elected to serve as Board President of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. Campbell is a member of NAMI Butler County and serves as President of the NAMI Ohio Board of Directors. She is a municipal court judge in Fairfield, Ohio, and has presided over a certified mental health docket for 22 years.

“I am honored and grateful to have been elected by my Board colleagues to serve as President,” Campbell said.

“I am looking forward to continuing to make NAMI a household name, promoting necessary policies, be a conveyor of interested parties and remain the premier education source in the mental health space,” she said. “The pandemic of the last few years has made it apparent to everyone the importance of early intervention and the availability of excellent care for everyone.”

During NAMICon 2022, held virtually June 14–16, NAMI membership voted to elect new NAMI Board members. Board members are elected for three-year terms and may serve two consecutive terms. The Board plays a central role in determining the governing policies of NAMI, helps inform official public policy positions, and establishes the budget and priorities for the national office. They play a key role in the development and approval of the strategic plan that guides the organization’s goals and main areas of focus.
